Offshore Wind Installation
Forecast Analysis & Report

Floating wind remains a minor player compared to its fixed-bottom counterpart with only a few industrial-scale projects currently up and running. However, the diversity of the installation strategies used in the development of these projects has provided future planners with an invaluable road map. As the industry strives for growth, we can learn essential lessons from the installation and heavy maintenance experiences of these early projects. This package contains analysis of the marine spread and vessel performance during construction and heavy maintenance of the first four industrial scale offshore floating wind projects.

Installation and O&M performance analysis of Offshore Floating Wind Farm

This study is a comprehensive analysis of the activities associated with each vessel involved in the construction and maintenance of an offshore wind project.  For the construction phase, the study distinguishes the different phases of the installation, namely anchor installation, towing, and hook-up. For the heavy maintenance phase, the analysis focuses on the turbine disconnection, towing and reconnection.  For each offshore wind project, Spinergie’s analysis provides a detailed view of the total vessel days spent per vessel category and per activity. Vessel time spent on each activity is split between productive time vs non-productive time.  The primary objective is to identify opportunities for enhancing efficiency throughout the installation and maintenance process. By delving into critical vessel performance metrics derived from recent large-scale floating wind farm projects such as WindFloat Atlantic, Kincardine, Hywind Tampen, and Provence Grand Large, we offers valuable insights and actionable recommendations for the optimal selection of cost-effective marine spread configurations.
