After a period of rationalisation, the offshore wind industry is entering a new complex era. While global ambitions continue to grow, project execution is facing increasing pressure from supply chain constraints, vessel availability, industrial capacity, and rising costs. At the same time, turbine upscaling, shifting regional dynamics, and emerging non-European markets are reshaping the competitive landscape for developers and contractors alike.
In this roundtable discussion, Spinergie brings together leading offshore wind stakeholders to discuss the structural challenges currently impacting the sector and the strategic shifts likely to define the market over the coming decade.

The discussion will be moderated by Jean-Baptiste Rougeot, Head of Analysts at Spinergie. Watch this space as we’ll be sharing more detail on our panellists closer to the day!
What we'll be discussing
Three questions sit at the heart of this roundtable:
What are the main obstacles slowing down offshore wind project developments?
The offshore wind sector is facing a series of pressures that are slowing the path from ambition to execution. Vessel availability has long been a known constraint, but with newbuild costs surging, is there any room to alleviate this block? Likewise, supply chain tension is set to ramp up, but will more manufacturing capacity emerge? Our panellists will dig into where the bottlenecks lie and what it will take to break through them.
Is turbine upscaling still a growth driver — or is it becoming a structural constraint?
Turbine sizes have been growing steadily since 2010, but the potential of 21 MW turbines remains on the table—despite a recent slowdown. If the industry takes the leap to larger turbines, instead of continuing gradual growth, there will be challenges across the board, from sourcing appropriate components to securing the vessels that are capable of handling them. So, while there are sound economic benefits to larger turbines, how will the sector solve the accompanying hurdles?

Which offshore wind markets are emerging as the next major growth areas?
While the UK, Germany, and the Netherlands are the backbone of the European offshore wind market, a second wave of countries is gaining momentum. Beyond Europe, APAC (excluding China) is entering a decisive phase while countries in South America are waiting in the wings. We’ll be discussing the main players in this second European wave and the frontier players who are just getting started.

Each topic will be introduced with Spinergie market data and analysis to frame the discussion and provide quantitative context.
Who is this for?
